The idea for SowbySew came when my daughter staring doing dance and gymnastics, there was always a reason for a new outfit, many years ago I used to work in a Factory making clothes for some of the Top UK high street brands, I left when I started a Family and they moved all the operations abroad, but I kept on sewing and making things for myself, home and Family.
I thought why do I need to ask someone to make the Dance Costumes that my Daughter needed, so I invested in a top end Sewing Machine, as a standard machine could not cope!, and started to make bespoke items for her.
When the other Mam’s and Dad’s at the Dance School started to ask where the costumes were from, I said “oh I make them”
Eventually I found myself being asked if I could make items from other parents, I agreed to 1 or 2 and then before I knew it a fully fledged business started to take off.
Now I have my own design Studio and Workshop at home, but with a seperate entrance so business and home life is now separate.
